I am new to this but it looks awesome. I can tell you that there are a few places in Ross which aren't bad but for a newbie like meself I dunno where to go really, but I fancy a go.

Hi Tom. I've just been saying that all us newbies should meet up sometime for a jam at Hereford sixth form. We were saying that it looked like a good good spot for pk. I'll try to organise something with the others on this board and you're welcome to come once we've got something sorted (posting at half-twelve at night? Are you mad? Why are you even awake?)

Lol yeah I was on the internet at a weird time, I'm not normally a sit-on-pc-at-all-hours person mind, just one of those saturdays! Anyways, sounds like an excellent plan to meet up somewhere decent for a bit of pk, today I mastered a couple of simple vaults so looking forward to having a raz somewhere better. I'm not in sixth form at the college i'm afraid so i woudn't know where to go round there, but i wanna do some more free-running and it seems like a good place, how about getting a group together one saturday?

The base of the multistorey is good. The top floor/roof is also ok, as is the cattle market with all the pens. You should also look at the subways, the church opposite sky vision, outside the new court and outside marks and spencers. PK is everywhere, you just need to open your eyes. To all the newbs, you MUST take it slow, if you go crazy people get hurt. Also try and understand the true meaning of Parkour, its not all about jumping off big rooves. BEXHILL!!!! where you at??? ltns, drop me a mail, I forgot the irc network we used to use -- Biomech [formally genex]

Tom: cool, glad you're interested. We've just got to try and organise for a few of us to get together at some point. I think there's enough people interested now to do it without drawing to much attention to ourselves (a load of people running about on the top of colleges and stuff probably wouldn't go down too well with owners etc.)
Biomech: Thanks for some of the tips on good spots. You up for a jam sometime? It'd be cool to talk to someone who knows what they're doing for those of us who haven't done pk before. And don't worry, I don't think anyone going to be doing anything too mad, seeing as most of us on this board are newbies.

I think maybe Parkour has been around in different forms for a long time.... I remember when I was a kid we used to call something like it 'garden hopping'. We would run through people's gardens from road to road jumping the walls and hedges and outrunning their dogs or the owners! We also used to run down streams in the lake district bouncing off the rocks, with no way of stopping but to fall into the water. The best feeling..... Also scree running (fields of really small rocks on the side of mountains) - totally out of control but in control. I guess thats the philosophy at some level. It's great that its moving into the cities and towns in this small minded world....

I agree Taylor, I was jogging up in the woods yesterday and found myself leaping across logs and branches, vaulting over styles and fences and generally having great fun, it was sort of like rural parkour lol!
Although when it comes to woodland fun there's nothing anywhere near as exciting as mountain biking the steep trails! ;D

The most important thing with PK is the warm up. If you do that properly then you'll be ok.
This saturday would be great then, meet at the college, then move onto other spots. Maylord car park has some great stuff. The subways are great for cat leaps.

Nah, mountainboarding: much better. Mountainbiking you've got a big metal bar between your legs, which is always a bit disconcerting. But I know what you mean. It's that feeling somewhere in between excitement and absolute terror.
I noticed some other cool spots for pk today around the colleges, especially the tech. There's on spot on top of the Product Design bit that's got loads of triangular prisms with the tops chopped off them on the roof which look like they could be fun. Anyway, when are we going to have a jam everyone? I know you can do it on your own, but I imagine pk would be much more fun when you're learning if you're with other people. Probably safer too...

Yeah, I have fun on my own knowing I can try stuff without getting laughed at when I fail, but it'll be so much better with people.
This Saturday then, at the college, say, oooh, 11 o clock?
