Just wondering how common fractures are among you guys? And how long should you keep off of training after a fracture (of course, it depends on the fracture but still...)?
I haven't practised parkour but it does look interesting to me. I am a tkd guy and had two fractures this summer (both feet). I just started to run.
Thanks.

In the 4 years I've been doing PK I've never fractured anything. I broke a rib and some toes but thats about it. Haven't even fractured anything from 12 years of Martial Arts either. Kinda Lex Luthor stylee...

you're all wimps... I've broken 19 bones and fractured around 25...
Feet fractures are less common than Leg fractures from landings... you also run the risk of popping your knee...
I haven't broken or fractured anything from Parkour yet... but... I'm sure I will... I'm good at it.

fracture and a break... are VERY different... both in feel and what happens... fractures are a lot more common, and heal much faster...
Basically... Breaks go through the bone... fractures just chip it. a Break hurts like hell. You KNOW when you've broken a bone (at least in most cases... some of my fingers I just thought were fractured when they were broken).
You can fracture bones doing all sorts of things... it's no real problem... just a bit of pain... feels like a really deep bruise or like you jammed something... worse case scenario... that body part swells up... and will turn green. The break is much more serious and should ALWAYS get attention. Believe me... when my collar bone broke... I went in for 2 checkups... then didn't go in again... the bones healed improperly and had to go in for a re-break. It was not fun.
