I'd have to disagree, I would say more that Speed is Power.
If you can react and burst into speed for a technique, you can definitely create a lot of force. Muscles true supply this, but it is the speed at which you can move'em which counts. =P
Just looked over your earlier post, I think it's a cat leap/wall grab combo type thing. Name's don't really metter, as long as you know what they represent. Words are valued by their meaning, not by the word itself.

But generally speaking, to have speed, you have to have muscle.....the chicken or the egg thing going on here?......

I suppose, I keep thinking of more arguments to counter it. But in the end, I see it is a chicken/egg dispute.
May I ask how old you are?
Also if you are planning any more meet ups?

We could always compare karate technique as well as parkour. I would find it particularly interesting in finding the differences in our styles, in both cases.
I'm some form of brown.. there's about 3 of them in our grade system, it doesn't really matter. I'm one of those, 1st Kyu is so much easier to say.

You mean sparring in martial arts?
I've been sparring since about yellow belt, it comes up now again in training sessions. It's not a very important part of the training for me, as I don't go in order to learn how to fight. But it is really good for speed, hand eye coordination, focus and control.

Sparring! I've been doing that from about the age of 4 at karate! Do you have kata's in your style? Compare techniques....... I like the hit 'em till they fall technique! I remember at my black belt grading, I was doing free sparring as part of it with the other guy who was sitting his black and he was trying to look all technical... so I raised my hands and walked forward and kicked him in the body with a mi-gari (front kick) followed with a mawashigari (round house kick) then watched him as he fell to the ground! It was classic, his face was histerical! His face >

Yeah I do kata's.Kata's and perfecting punches and kicks is all we do really and some times do take downs but very rarely do them.I really wish I could put my skills into a sparing match but it does help with the free runing abit.

Yes, we have kata. They begin with the Heian Kata's though the first has been renamed Kihon Kata. I forget the proper name of it.
I think FRNewbie is referring to who your sensei was.
We have to follow a syllabus which is kinda restrictive but every once and a while we let loose on something more advanced. I used to be better, training twice a week but one of the clubs had to be closed due to lack of numbers. I really need to get back the mentality for it, parkour may be the key.
