HAHA or not ;D i still feel that tic tacks some times do not gain enough distance but i agree with an on the energy needed also with the concentration of each step - although tic tacs you need to measure distance and accuracy carefully

I find it helps if you spot your next foot placement well before you step on it. If you know what i mean lol!!

The technique you use will depend on what you are trying to achieve.
Do you want to cover a larger distance? Do you want to stay airborne for longer? Do you want to kick the wall as much as you can? Or are you just trying to look cool?

just wondering but would different sorts of shoes make a large difference to ease of running up a wall? I mean I just wear my shoddy airwalks, and I can't do this with my lack of grip..

Ditch the airwalks. Like, in a ditch. Maybe burn them first. You want shoes that fit your foot comfortably without slipping, and bend. It's a huge oversimplification, but you want to be using the front of the foot for control and traction, as per my shoddy 10 second diagram. Maximise traction by striking the wall with a good surface area, compromising the direction of the force between the wall normal and the optimum jump trajectory, and regulating the length of the impulse using all joints.

It's just a shoe I drew. But, I suppose, if the shoe on the right is a Kalenji, the one on the left is a Vibram.
