Lets say I had to vault an object to my right. I'd have to swing my left leg up in order to get some air and move to the right, over the object. I feel as though if I swing my left leg up, I will get air but I will not go anywhere, I'd just land in the position I took off from. Any tips on how to maneuver around this?

Best way to get around this is to create an adjusted method, use your upper body as your counterweight, just before you get to the point of feeling your not going anywhere, tilt your upper body so that you feel yourself start to move over the object. Doing it like this will help your confidence, if this doesnt work for you try a slow running start.
