Hello, I'm reproducing these posts here to make sure they don't get forgotten about / overlooked. This kind of thing is a VERY rare offer and you really ought to be making a very serious effort to make sure you tap into this.
I'm a grants officer and give new groups funding (up to £7,000). If a group was set up contact me... we're looking to fund some 13-18 yr olds in MK. Lucy lucy.bedford(at)mkcommunityfoundation.co.uk
It's not sponsoring, it's a grant. If some of you wanted to set up a group (with a committee and rules) then you could apply for funding for a project i.e. training or use of the trampoline centre (with padded walls) to test jumps etc. Our money needs to be dedicated to older youths as currently it's going to under 6 yr olds and I thought what you're all doing is great. it just depends whether a few of you would be dedicated to setting up a group properly. There's a free service called INCAA that help new groups set up. If you are interested contact them (INCAA - Julie Braithwaite, InCCA, Acorn House, 351 Midsummer Boulevard, Milton Keynes MK9 3HP, Tel: 01908 231712 info(at)incca.org.uk ) and then I could see about funding some activities. Milton Keynes is perfect for Parkour and it'd be nice to see a group based here. Lucy
I would suggest that progress / work done relating to obtaining this funding is poted in this thread, to keep it tidy. Best of luck!

Here's the first update (nabbed off of the pkmk site - forgive me Roofus ):
02/02/05 A representative from the MK Community Foundation contacted the UK PK Association board offering a grant for us as a group I have just recieved and email from them asking me to meet them. So i will be going down to their office to discuss what exactly their going to offer us. It seems as tho they will fun for us to use facilities such as gyms or leisure centers for practicing in. If theres any thing you want me to ask them or to mention please post it on the forum (this posted by Roofus)

My brother and I are launching a clothing web shop based in MK and might be interested in sponsoring a local Parkourer, you would need to have good skills, and be available for photo shoots and of course wear our clothing.

Righto, im going to meet with the MK Community Foundation next week. I have put together a few questions and topics to raise: [/li][li] What do they do? [/li][li] What does INCCA do? How do they relate to MKCF? [/li][li] What are they offering in a nutshell. [/li][li] A grant - How much? How does PK:MK recieve it? [/li][li] Facilities - What, where and when. [/li][li] Advertising and promotion. Media ?! [/li][li] Min/Max number of members? [/li][li] What support we would recieve from MKFC apart from money. [/li][li] Duration of the offer/support. [/li][li] Our responsibilites in this agreement - what do we need to do in return? Strings attached? If there are any other topics you think should be raised that i may not have mentioned here, please post them so that i can get the most out of this. This is for all of us in MK im not the only one in control here, you have all the right to have your say. Please Post if you have any thoughts or queries. Thanks!

Update Myself and jon have met with Lucy Bedford at the MK Community Foundation. She explained that we need to apply for the grant, but we must become a formal group. Becoming a formal group is pretty much all on paper, it would NOT mean that to be part of the group you would have to join. It would be open to any one, but there may be some age restrictions, how ever this should not be a problem for the people interested so far. She said that InCCA (information centre for community action) and MK Community Foundation will not offer grants if the groups in question are in obvious danger by taking part in the activity that is being supported. Parkour clearly is not the safest of activities so i have said that because it is dangerous using the grant to hire leisure centres and gyms will make it more controlled and safe. What needs to happen is for there to be a comittee for the group. A Chair person, a treasurer and a secretary. We also have to write up some documents: [/li][li] A Constitution - a document stating how the group works. [/li][li] A Child Protection Policy- a document stating the responsibilities and procedures in preventing and flagging potential child abuse. There will also be a bank account set up to hold the grant that is recieved. There must be a list of everything that the money is spent on prior to spending it and it must be spent or given back within a year. If successful in obtaining the grant we will be able to re apply each year. Its a lot i know, but if this can be done, then we will be able to progress so much further and faster with parkour. We will be able to use gyms and leisure centres to practice which will make doing those tricky stunts a bit safer! If you have any queries please post here or contact me at pk_mk(at)hotmail.com. Keep it safe! Roofus

FAO ROOFUS
we are a community organisation that does projects with young people in oxfordshire buckinghamshire and milton keynes. some of our projects are sports related; and we are trying to set up a parkour group at a school for excluded young people in oxford.
just read the messages and thought that we could offer you help. we already receive money from the bucks community foundation for a basketball projet we are doing in high wycombe, and we are experienced at how the funding system works. if you wanted to use our organisation to obtain money we could become the purse holder as such - as we already have everything in place. we sometimes use other charitable organisations to obtain funding this way, it is a recognised way of doing things...
if you'd like to contact us our email is : info(at)street-dreams.co.uk
