This comes up a lot. Personally I think that you cannot deny it as a sport but you can say its more of an Art.

Personally, I call it an art, but I think it all comes down to personal preference. Some people have philosophies and call it an art like me, others call it a sport and might not have thought all that much about their philosophy. Also, there's no rules. Sports have rules.

Never thought of it like that, yes then it is an art, not a sport

Runs along the "sport or game" argument too. Apparently one has rules and the other has regulations, or something. Don't ask me which. Always viewed Parkour as an art because I've always viewed it as closer to martial arts (again, aren't they sport?) but solo martial arts like staff or (detracting a little) poi etc.. Has been said of art that it isn't art unless someone views it and has a reaction to it. So if you're Parkouring alone in a dark void, it's not art

Unfortunatly you can not call it solidly an art... but... I have always know sports to have a competative side with a winning goal... This Parkour does not have. As I have heard, you PK for ones self to become the best you can... Although you have a laugh and put a little competition on it! Though some people would define sport as something energetic which Parkour is.
Sport:
1)Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively. 2)A particular form of this activity. 3)An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively. 4)An active pastime; recreation.
Art:
1)The conscious production or arrangement of sounds, colors, forms, movements, or other elements in a manner that affects the sense of beauty, specifically the production of the beautiful in a graphic or plastic medium. 2)The study of these activities. 3)The product of these activities; human works of beauty considered as a group 4)A system of principles and methods employed in the performance of a set of activities: the art of building. 5)A trade or craft that applies such a system of principles and methods: the art of the lexicographer. 6)Skill that is attained by study, practice, or observation: the art of the baker; the blacksmith's art.
these are the best examples I can find if they help at all.
Untill it has rule and regulations it is not a sport in my eyes... Although I voted: Both, Mainly Art... to me its an art.
