As part of my English assignment I am doing a presentation on Parkour, so far I have these categories: -Introduction -Foundation -Distinctions to similar sports -Were you can practice Please help, I need some tips on these subjects! Ok for Introduction write how parkour was first created by David Belle. Write how he was influenced by his farther etc. Also write a little bit about the basics movements eg cat pass, speed pass and write about the french translations and how a traceur is some one who practises parkour. Foundation you can write a lot things pretty much common sense.. distinctions to similar sports well you can write how its a lot more mentally and physically demanding etc etc .. Obviously parkour is about adapting to your environment so what ever your environment is parkour can be practised there. If you need more detail please ask as i am extreamly tired right now! So i kept it pretty basic!

ok; charlie basically covered it, but i'll go over some of it here.
Intro: -How parkour was already around before david, and he just put a name to a movement. -Where it was "developed" - just given a name -How the French army helped david belle in founding parkour (shown to david be his father, Williams) and taking this from his father and trying it in an urban environment. -The translation of parkour from French - English (through movement - moving through) -What a traceur is. -The DISCIPLINE of parkour, what it is all about (ground level movements, strength, control etc) -Expression of movement, no set movements, but your own freedom in movement -What can be involved, running, climbing, jumping, swinging, vaulting etc -Brief introduction to the Discipline
Foundation: -The "movements" Cat pass etc, but how it is not about these set movements. -Basically the foundations of parkour, where it started/how etc
Distinctions: -How it can be related to nearly anything, and yet is totally different. -Can be related to most recreational activities, as they require strength and kinaesthesis. -It is totally different to everything, as it is efficient movement, not a sport, and is free movement for yourself.
Where you can practice: -A simple set of railings, walls etc - for vaulting and general training -A patch of grass to learn the roll. -Its always nice to find a new area, but you can stick to the simple areas, but linking movements in a built up area. -A set of walls around a slope for wheelchair accessability -Bike racks, for rail precisions, vaulting, moving. -A childs play park, conditioning, climbing, moving.
I'd add another section about the discipline: -How you need to be strong "be strong before you jump" -Why you need to get strong.. to protect your joints for future years -Usual conditioning movements; --Pull ups --Push ups --Muscle ups --Climb ups --Squats --Calf raises --Shion raises --Ski sits
etc
Conclusion: -Repeating a little, -Telling people different ideas etc
THIS IS JUST A BREIF OVERVIEW, PLEASE DO SOME OWN WORK, I WAS JUST TRYING TO GIVE YOU A STARTING EDGE. but, if you wanted, you coul;d just extend on those points
hope i've helped, this had helped me waste time in college
