Hi i found a really good webpage with the help of another guy from the forums about parkour in southampton. Its got loads of information about local spots, much of it ideal for beginners. p202.ezboard.com/fanother sitefrm26.showMessage?topicID=66.topic&index=8 Loads of people seem to want to know how to start doing parkour, and i guess the best way is to have a look at the basics (which can be found on most websites, such as www.another site) and then go and practice it, whether it be on your own or in a group. Also any sort of physical training such as running or sports will be helpful to improve your overall fitness. Hopefully we can get a practice session going in southampton pretty soon, hopefully in the next week. Dave

Hey guys. I live in Shirley, so am definately up for a training session. I'm a total beginner, so would find it a lot easier to go with people of similar ability, if you are beginners too. I'll watch this space.
Looking around Southampton there are some great places for it. I do circuit training once a week to keep my fitness up, and used to go running quite regularly. What's your background?

Hi everyone. Im trying to organise a training session on tuesday evening, probably around 7pm so everyone has finished work, lecures or school. Where is the easiest place for everyone to get to, and what sort of stuff do people want to do?
Since everyone is new to parkour, im thinking we could either meet in a grassy area and practice simple stuff such as rolls and jumps, or we could go somewhere and just have a go? Also bearing in mind it will be dark at 7pm, light will be an issue. Any ideas? One possibility is the open area over the road from the library on the university campus, ive seen other societies etc use if for practicing (i think it was circuis type tricks).
Post here or let me know on msn if anyone has any thoughts on this. My email is belton_david(at)hotmail.com.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ive been free-running for 18 months and have made several pirate films of parkour for several projects (one in paris). With a background of martial arts, athletics, and gymnastics. Im in shirley and my training ground extends from tauntons college to west quay, east-street and st. marys. All these new ppl want to get in on the sport from watching Jump London and Jump Britain im still a novice who wants to break away and create a new crew, u guys must have good stamina, be 18yrs and older for legal reasons and into the same type of stuff. i shall make a chat room on msn im not gonna go round e-mailing ppl if u wanna be involved just add to the chat bring yourself an open mind and all your originality. Hey
I can't really think of anywhere to go in the evening where there will be enough light.
Is the grassy area opposite the library well lit up?
