Guys first of all i am truly sorry if i offend anybody here i have only been on this site for a couple of days. but im really disapointed at the fact that nearly every thread is swamped with arguments about WHAT "parkour" is and WHAT we CAN and CANT do in "parkour." Like if somebody wants help on how do to say a backflip you wont give him it cos its NOT "parkour" and this is beeing said by people that say "parkour is about self discovery." Then why cant we discover ourselves upside down flying through the air. i got into this because i loved the idea of rails not just being barriers any more having no restrictions only something i could improve on. but what happens when an ordinary drop doesnt quite fill that great feeling anymore why cant we SHAKE IT UP a little. WHY is that WRONG. what happened to NO RESTRICTIONS. for petes sake i have less restricted in tighty wightys. guys just get a grip why cant we just move and have fun! and keep fit whilst in the process. i know i will get shot down for this. i cant enjoy this Great thing anymore if im going to be shot down cause its WRONG or its NOT PARKOUR wtf is parkour anymore wtf is freerunning what the hell ever happened to the ART OF MOVING can you not remember that or something. Rotating backwards is a MOVEMENT and it is an ART to do that off of something so kill me now if i put these to key words together ART MOVEMENT im just gonna fill in one little word ART of MOVEMENT okay im done now and im sorry for any hurt caused l8rs

i know whatcha mean.
and yeah, i don't mind flips in parkour its just that when parkour is said to be flips it is a bit stupid (this isn't my view, i trick myself) but yeah, parkour is about moving efficiently flips can slow you down and do massive joint damage
so yeah meh

I agree,
I know parkour is about getting from A to B as quickly and as efficently as possible but I mean come on spice it up with a few flips etc.

MIAOW!!!!! Guys I personally think that the topic starting post was a bit catty, however I do have to agree with what is being said. There are some posts that do not contain the word NOT/DON'T and isn't Parkour/Free running a freedom of expression too, so argueing the politics is not going to help anyone but the academics amongst us. Btw 'Thedarbar' some of us don't really want to know about how restricted you feel in 'Tighty whities' compared to Parkour. Sorry

something i'd like to add
people go into parkour politics too much i can see where they're coming from, understanding the effect and such of how they move and the true philosophy of it but i just like to move, its more free to just move without delving too deeply.

Lets leave the politics to those who are interested, but Ant I do actually agree with you about moving freely without the complexities of what is/ isn't essentially PK.

Get a grip, man. If I was to take a dump on your monitor and say "Look! A bowel movement! Parkour!"I would be an idiot. Yes, it's a movement. But "l'art du déplacement" is about moving from one place to another. Not just moving. Parkour is parkour. Calling flips parkour is like calling wrestling parkour or calling hand-jiving parkour. They're not parkour. as for the flips and that yes it is a art of movement but some people dont realise that its showing of is a excuse i hear regualy When I trick, I trick for me. The guy in the street doesn't care whether I back tuck, back layout or back pike. I care, because I want to be in control of my movements. i can see where they're coming from, understanding the effect and such of how they move and the true philosophy of it but i just like to move, its more free to just move without delving too deeply. Yes, yes, and furthermore, yes. If I ever meet you, Ant, I'm buying you a drink.

I agree kinda parkour is about getting for A to B and anything in your way find a way to get past it. but people do go on about "it's not parkour it's freerunning" alot but I just feel that if you want to do it then do it if you want to wall run up a wall then jump down and break roll and vualt over the fence then do it if you feel that you can do it. so if you want to backflip off a wall if you feel you can do it do it don't care about if people will say it's not parkour ok it's not oh well.

Alexpartoon_parkour(at)hotmail.co.uk - www.youtube.com/user/parkourpartoonAgreed. Parkour is a Disipline but it involves the usage of Enviroment, Well, I beleive its taking challenges and goals and somtimes Flips are more challenging, Todays enviroment is a tough place and if you get strong spacial awareness and commitment from flipping then here here. Though I acknowledge this is a Parkour forum, And you expect to see Arguements about Parkour. Best to just click on topics interesting to you. Sorry for spellings, Too sleepy still.
