I am doing research into Parkour and Free-running for my dissertation at university and i wondered How did you originally come in contact with Parkour or Freerunning, and what made you begin practicing? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

ah, i have a well good story
well, one day, i stayed over at my mates house, and they were looking round on the internet and found some UF videos and all i thought it was was backflipping off buildings next day, we went into town, as they jumped off benches, and i just got embarrassed by them. then, we got into town, and they were running up a wall thing, when luke markey & brad moss came along, and they showed us what it really was, and i got like, addicted

anthony: when these guys came showed you what it really was how was that different from what you had seen and done before?
pkjsy: i think that parkour is interesting in that it is a sport that engages with the environment in ways that other sports do not. For this reason among some other more abstract ones i think that it is interesting

well, i noticed how amazing the movements of these guys were, i was shown that it was not just jumping off high things, and being idiots. when you see something as amazing as that, it just astounds you, and i just got like, an endorphin fix that i can only keep by training

my friend and i ( ver posh ;D ) are the first to bring parkour to our small town, and since we have started a few small groups have strated training with us i first started off by just finding videos and random adverts, i decided to try a few simple moves and and found that they were addictive, as simple as being addicitve and unique ;D

I started without knowing (I think this is how alot of people start ). I used to do gymnastics and slowly I started to do it outside, and then someone told me what I was doing was parkour...and from then on i have been a freerunner

I started by doing tricks with rollerblades when there was that fad ages ago. But it was just before a growth spurt and they didn't fit me for long. I started doing railing jumps and silly things on foot for comedy value for my friends at the time (I’m the groups joker). I started to realise the possibilities that not wearing skates could bring. I combined it with copying some stuff from Jackie Chan movies when he climbs stuff. Then i saw a documentary late night i think it was C4, advertising the Yamasaki movie (which to this day I’ve never seen). I realised other people where doing what i was and it had a name. Did it a lot. Then kind of forgot about it for a few years until I saw D13 and was like oh yeah I did that! And started up again with a new maturity and spiritual insight
