Hi all,
To those of you who haven't already heard, I'm looking into the possibility of setting up a parkour arena or gym in Thanet. The charity I work for (Thanet Community Development Trust) helped Revolution sk8park set up and we actually own the building they use. I need to see how popular the idea is with PKers and have already explained to a few that we would have to charge a fee for use of the Gym. This would not go into our pockets as it would keep the project going and support other community projects in Thanet. It would be great if someone could rally round others and gain support for my idea as we have to be sure the project would work before we apply for funding, maybe a poll of some sort on someones website so i can post a link here. The support i've had already has been fantastic and i have emailed sebastien foucan for his support. If you want to know more about this then post a reply or email me at alex.nicholson(at)tcdc.org.uk, and by the way, we are a Community development charity and have nothing to do with the Council or government.

Hey all I've just spent most of the afternoon researching the idea and found possible funding, it's called the Young peoples fund (National lottery) and is from £50,000 to £150,000 over 3 years. It looks like the trust i work for are eligible and the project would be too, i just need to show that theres enough interest. There may be a possible venue, it's in Cliftonville and used to be an old gym... apparently its huge, the funding would pay for refurb too

This excellent. It really is. I've discussed with the Thanet Parkour Team and they're all up for it. That's another 9 people up for it. There are few more people who like the idea of doing so, but have no real motivation. I think that could be said for alot of people in Thanet. A gym would certainly push people to do Parkour. The idea of all profits going to charity is excellent aswell.
Is your office open on a Sunday? The Thanet Parkour Team is going out on Sunday, so it could be a chance to meet, but I'm doubitng you'll be open on a Sunday.

Im looking at an old gym as a possible site. Its on Northdown Road in Cliftonville, directly opposite where I work. Its on the first floor and looks pretty big. Also theres a small area downstairs that could be used as a shop for selling merchandise like revolution has.

We have a collective, not so official though.... More like Nightcrawlers, stepping from the shadow realm and gliding over the obstacles like disgruntled Wraths...

We'll be meeting at the fountain there. If it's too far for you to go, we can organise another meeting.

I suppose, in a way. We are a Thanet team and we've called ourselves the Thanet Parkour Team as we know of no other teams. There's no way to really make it official, just suppose who came first and who used the name first.

The TPT is made up of 15 and 16 year-olds. I know we're young, but that doesn't mean we can't bust with the best of 'em.
