Hi there as you may of heard that in the UK Parkour is soon to be on the curriculum for some schools, and that it is being taught in the police force. Post your views on this here! here's mine -
I think it is an advance for Parkour however it does lose the essence of Parkour in some respects. For example, in the police force, they are learning Parkour to catch people better, but this does raise the question that is this a form of competition between the officer and the criminal? Parkour is both mental and physical development and I fear that the Mental Side of Parkour will be lost when taught in schools and the police force. However i think it being taught in schools is good as long as it is done by the right people who will teach ALL of Parkour's attributes, including both Physical and Mental. I think it would be good because it will introduce many more people to Parkour. If you agree or disagree and have a different opinion post here!

ye i'd heard that too, i think again it has both good points and bad. For one more people will be introduced to it which is good however once it's taught in schools it may just become another garden variety sport, and this is where even more brands and big businesses will try to cash in on the discipline....In a few years time if im really good though, i wouldnt mind being a parkour techer for schools, that'd be pretty cool, because I could get the whole philosophy into it rather than just the physical side, which is what drove me to the art in the first place.

i totally agree mate, it was the mental attributes and philosophy of Parkour which actually inspired me to start training Parkour. Let's hope that they do take into account the important parts of Parkour, and not just use it because its practical to them, another quirky thing etc...it should be done for the RIGHT reasons.

oh yeah thats what i said, if its taught by someone who teaches the mental and philosophical side of parkour to ensure that the essence is kept, then i have no problem at all!

well guys i do agree but also disagree, i agree as sometimes people who use parkour against the law could get caught easily by the police. I also disagree cus if more people learn about it then the fun will be lost, it will be a common sport then...

first of all it isnt a sport, second of all the whole point of parkour is to share it with other people so the comment you just made is kinda stupid

i don't wanna share parkour! i started it to be different, something i could have for myself, and not with everyone else.

Hey if the police start using parkour then how are we suppose to get away then gloat about getting away? I would rather they didnt do it and yes people should stumble across it. Only then will parkour still remain valuable and not a mass cultural consumer fad like free running. Like yesterday watching TV the Duracell Bunny was free running and it really infuriated me because it shouldn't be a mass art.
I get really terratorial over these kind of things - sorry
