Hi I'm a architecture thesis student, and I'm looking into the idea of creating a facility for the use of extreme sport, Free Running, Flat land riding, trials and skateboarding. I've been inspired by the documentary Concrete Circus.
In this documentary I noticed how you don't just use the environment you are in to practice but you use gymnasiums and sports facilities. It was also conveyed that you are still an underground phenomena and there is still a lack of acceptance and understand through the public eye who still have a negative perception of these types of sports, skills, disciplines. Yet on the media circuit (you-tube) you are the big hitters, popular and admired for what you do.
I'm looking to try and create architecture that facilitates your requirements to develop your skills but also a building that can gives back to the community to change perceptions and gain more harmony between you and the public. I want to design a building that both internally and externally can be your practice ground.
I want to know your thoughts, your philosophy, your ideas, where to locate a building like this and why that area, what you would like to see?
Thanks for reading this
