I'll start off with a bit about myself,
My name is Alex. I'm 24 and I live in Bedfordshire. I've been into keeping fit for quite a while but I started practicing Parkour about 4 years ago. After about a year I joined an acrobatics group since I couldn't find any Parkour gyms within 50 miles of me (there might be some but I'm yet to find one). Once I joined acrobatics I was told to stop working out since purely lifting free weights wasn't doing me any favors for what I wanted to do so I gave it a rest for a while and did stretching exercises, cardio and practiced flips. After giving up working out I kind of found it hard getting back into it. However now I'm back on my routine but with less weight lifting, a lot more stretches and cardio plus some exercises I've picked up from Parkour books.
I'm glad to have found a forum like this. Up until now I've only known 2 of my mates who would even give it a go and even they have given up since. If there is anyone in my area or any clubs that does Parkour let me know.

From one newbie to another ....hi.
Im not local to you but, i do however sympathise with your situation, as i too cant find a club neer me..... But what i am doing is trying to start one. Use this forum/the internet to find someone who teaches (or at east has a few years experience in) parkour that is local to you, and then approach him about setting up a gym.....
That's my suggestion anyway, other than that just keep trying with your mates.
peace
