sup my name is Jacque (Jak) im 22, from Telford in the West Mids. Ive never been 'running' (i have no idea what you refer to parkour as) but ive been interested in it for years, and want to know how you would advise a n00bie to get into it. what do i wear? where do i train? what should i do for fitness/ strength? as i already work out at the gym so could i change it up to help for parkour........ you know i need just general "im new what do i do" kinda advice well any help woudl..... help Peace

Woah they are nice and cheep, are they what you use? or just a good cheep beginner shoe?
Are there any good youtube channels to learn the basics? or could you point me somewhere else??
also as your kinda local..... have you even been to Telford... if so do you know any good spots?

The first part is getting your fitness up. It's crucial so that you don't hurt yourself. Even simple things like jumps can do you damage if you're not ready for it. My workout includes 30 mins stretching (very important), an hour conditioning workout which includes a bodyweight workout and minimal free-weights, then a 3 mile jog.
You obviously don't have to start at that but work your way up. The reason you don't want to use weight lifting to work out is because all it does is help you lift more weight. Your muscles get bigger but they have no flexibility and your tendons are still weak.
See how that goes for a while then start on balance practice and add jumps into your workout. Find a low wall and just jump up and down it for about 50 reps. Steadily increase the height. Practice your rolls too. The freerunner's best lifeline is the roll. Roll from the start of your shoulder going accross your back to the opposite side, never tuck your neck in and roll across your spine. They might teach you to in things like acrobatics but they're doing it on mats, not concrete.

that seems like pretty good basic good advice, cheers for that.
yeah i do work out at current in the gym, i wouldn't stop that because it something i enjoy, and it will help for strength and fitness, also I do quite a few bodyweight moves at current as part of my work out, but i could throw in some more exercises that are relevant to parkour, muscle ups and other things of a gymnastic nature.
Any other tips on improving balance and/or flexibility.
