This thread is for the discussion of the movement speed vault/passemantThe speed vault is basically what its called. A vault used to overcome obstacles at any speed efficiently. A good speed vault is where you effortless overcome the obstacle not losing any speed when vaulting. The actual technique is to have one hand placed on the the object while you body turns up onto one side, close to the obstacle, allowing you to almost 'run' straight over the obstacle.

to keep speed throughout this movement, take off early, before your hand touches the obstacle your feet should be off the floor. keep low to the object. your lowest leg should be only a few inches from the obstacle as it passes over. attack this movement, but do it with control.

What Gav said is a really important point.. also to continue the momentum on instead of landing two feet (which will almost kill all your momentum) land your feet split foot to continue your momentum into a run !

im not sure if its been mentioned, but i find its faster tro use one hand unless you use the second hand to push ypourself faster - but this ends up turning your self a tiny bit also - jump of the foot on the same side as you hand is goingto land 1st, then just as your about to go over - put ur hand down to teady yourself = lean to the side of your hand also

thats just a normal vault with 2 hands isnt it ?
well any way i think a speed vault is very use full if you do not have the space for a run up onto an obsticle you use the speed vault instead of the run and then vault the other object that you would of had a run up to if you had the space.

ronin - if you look closly at the animaion - the traceurs uses two hands - which is not a speed vault - i was just stating that animation uses two and thus its not a speed - just a variation of it if that makes sense, simply i was stating of advice for speed vaults and that if you add another it is no longer an original technique - but from personal trainng - one hand is definetly faster ;D

no, he uses one arm, the other arm moves in front to stop any wind resistance.
you were trying to look too deep into this, and are wrong.

I'm confused too. I learnt this vault first too, but what is up with the 360 thing and doing it before a flip? Is that possible?

If you are worried about missing the wall or pole then simply put your hand on it then take off. Start to build this up into runs then eventually the full thing
