I live in Brighton and am trying to find good sites to jam. We usually go out early mornings but find that the city centre gets too busy.
Any thoughts?

We started off at the skate park by the level. Its got a few rails and a soft surface to practice jumps and pk rolls...
The seafront is a good place for variety. You can do combinations on the staircases and practice flips and somersaults in the sand pit thing. Its also nice and quiet in the early morning...
If you are just starting out then the best advice I can give is to warm up thoroughly, be soft and practice, practice, practice...
Repetition can be dull but it helps your body and mind to work together. Sometimes you 'think' you can do a move but your body might not be warmed up enough. The other side is that your body is capable of doing something but you get the fear! Whenever I injure myself or get terrified about doing something I just start from scratch, doing little jumps and building back up again...
If you find any good quiet spots please let me know!
We may try and organise a local jam, either in the street or at a gym if anyone is interested?

I'm well up for a session especially if we can organise a gym, as the weather is a bit crap and I'm new to this so a practice session in a gym would be great. Also can anyone tell me the name of this french film I saw some time ago based on Parkour (although very Hollywood and impossible at times I think). Cheers andygardner11(at)hotmail.com

Yeh I'd be well up for meeting up at a gym and trying stuff without the fear of pain!! ha ha Went down to the sea front last night and did various wall/rail hops etc but i dint warm up properly so my legs turned to jelly. If you would organise a gym session it would be much appreciated as i am a complete beginner to this.

There is a good gymnastic club in Hove that may be able to help. Not sure of the costs but would prob be reasonable,if you get a few people together.Brighton&hove gymnastics club.776209 A guy called Richard may be able to advise or pop in to his adult gym session on thurs 8-9.30.Use the bars, pit.vaults etc.Learn to flick,somi,swing...

well yes i saw the thing on C4 too.
i used to do free running but have not done so for at lest a year i guess. i live in Hove and found that Brighton sea front is a great place to go. there seems that there is going to be a large amount of people who want to start but may not know how. Im one of them i have never been one for flips mainly jumps so i need some guidence too.
We should all meet up some time. meeting others is a good way to learn and will keep us in the sport, this was one of the reasons i drifted away.

I'm just wondering how old you guys are?
I'm 30 and did a lot of martial arts but quite rusty now. But I was butterflying my kicks and doing round houses years ago, age=a tiny tiny bit of wisdom. But Parkour is different ball game altogether.
Was just astounded by the level of skill in the Jumping UK programme on C4. Also I was very glad to see one of the instrumental guys was 30 years old as well.
